This is my daughter’s first Halloween. She will be 8 months. I am trying to find a cute little costume for her. I think she will be a ladybug, butterfly, piggy, or something to that line. Something that is cute. What will your child be if you dress them up? Will you be taking them trick or treating or to some festival? I would like to dress my LO up and take her to take pictures in her costume.

This is my son’s first Halloween as well and he will be close to 8 months. I’m definately going to get pictures before Halloween in his costume and probably take him to a kid’s pumpkin place the day before so he can look around. Where can I find good, maternity halloween costumes??
I need to be able to try them on. I live in Orange County, CA, so I need stores in my area… I also was sort of “heavy” to begin with, and showing my belly as a costume for Halloween is out of the question. Please help!! 
I have never seen maternity Halloween costumes. You might want to just try on some of the plus size costumes at a party store. If these are too small for you then I would suggest just getting creative with some of the clothes you already have and just getting accesories like a cape or devil horns. My 11 year old daughter is now in adult sizes. She wears a B cup bra. We are looking for a Halloween costume appropriate for her age and sizes. Everything we find is fairly slutty even for an open minded person. I just want her to be able to have fun; these costumes can wait for high school at the earliest.

80s Halloween Costumes for the Oughties
Everything old is new again, be it in literature, cinema, sports or, yes, parties. And there’s no bigger or better party to enjoy than Halloween, the one day a year that everyone can cut loose and have fun without having to inhabit your own skin.
In that spirit, then, it’s a good idea to take a look at the best 80s halloween costumes the world has to offer, since the 80s are the new oughties. The days of Reaganomics, Gordon Gecco and John Hughes (rest in peace!) are all back upon us, and if you want the best 80s halloween costumes, those are all good places to start.
Going as Gordon Gecco, for example, is a perfect idea for an 80s halloween costumes. Gecco, for those who don’t remember, was the antagonist in the 1987 hit film “Wall Street,” starring Charlie Sheen as an idealistic young stockbroker who is corrupted by both the process and Gecco himself, played brilliantly by Michael Douglass. Gecco cuts a stereotypical 80s figure: Slicked back hair, armani suit, martini clutched in one hand and brick-sized cellphone in the other. If you decide to go as Gecco for your costume, that’s where you start. But to differentiate it from other 80s halloween costumes of that ilk, you can go a step further.
Gecco’s famous line in the film, a line oft repeated facetiously in some circles and reverently in others, is “Greed is good.” Oliver Stone intended the line to encapsulate everything not only about Gecco himself and the financial community in general, but also the time and place that were the 1980s. So if you’re going as Gordon Gecco, you need to work “Greed is good” into your costume. My suggestion would be something as simple as taping a sign with that phrase to your back. If you come up with something even better, go for it.
Some 80s halloween costumes that my girlfriend and I have kicked around without actually doing over the years center on two other films from that decade that we both love. First is “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” I would go as Indy, and she would go as Short Round. For those who don’t remember, Short Round was the 10 year old asian boy sidekick to Indy on that particular adventure. The idea works on a lot of levels if you think about it, many of them funny and wholly inappropriate.
Another of the 80s halloween costumes we’ve considered is getting a bunch of friends together and going as The Goonies. Coincidentally, the actor who plays Short Round also plays Data in The Goonies, so if you have an asian friend who’s willing to play the token role, get him or her aboard and go from there.
Two other great ensemble ideas from movies of that time are going as either the Ghostbusters or The Breakfast Club. Both are iconic 80s films that almost anyone would recognize off the bat, and can be a lot of fun to dress up as.

Include things like notepads, pens, pencils, erasers, special stickers, and perhaps a couple pieces of a favorite type of candy they may enjoy. Just avoid making the focus on sweets to keep things healthy.

Date Nights with Mommy and Daddy
Date nights with mommy and daddy make wonderful ways to show your love around Valentine’s Day. Although you probably won’t be able to do this all in one day, take the week before the big day and plan special dates with your kids. Plan it so each of the kids get a special date night with mom and a special date night with dad. Take your child out and do something special. Enjoy dinner, go bowling, see a movie, and enjoy time together. This one on one time really makes them feel special and loved. When you have your date, surprise them with a little Valentine’s Day card too.
Teach Kids a Bit of Valentine’s History
There is actually quite a bit of history behind Valentine’s Day that most people do not know about. The holiday is actually one that was for St. Valentine. When the Claudius II, the emperor decided to outlaw marriage in order to make his military strong, Valentine continued marrying people in secret. Valentine was captured and put in jail, but according to the legend he would communicate to those outside with messages on papers, that became known as Valentine’s. Later this would become a holiday to celebrate his commitment to real love and marriage. Cupid is another historical gentlemen in history that comes from Roman Mythology that you may want to teach your children about. Teaching them a bit of the history surrounding the holiday can be fun, and you can even come up with some craft ideas to go along with the history that you can enjoy together.
There are so many ways that you can show your love to your children on Valentine’s Da. Remember, this day is all about love, including the love you have for your children. You don’t have to spend a lot, but you can come up with wonderful ways to celebrate the day so that they feel loved.

My son is 8 and he wanted a whoopie cushion costume and I looked everywhere and couldn’t find him one. I finally found him one on the internet for $73.
We went in this one store and he saw a military outfit with the hard hat and everything and he said next year he would get the whoopie cushion. lol. I went to Walmart in the hunting section and got him some camo makeup.

It has to be decent but cute and how can I come up with a homemade costume..I know I could put on some jeans, boots. I have no cowgirl hat. what else??

i went to a halloween store and realized a sex offender was working there?
i went to a costume shop this weekend and i recognized a guy from Megan’s law .com and realized he is a registered sex offender. i am 100% sure it’s him as i asked another employee his name and it’s the same name that’s on the website not to mention the face matches. His offense is lewd acts on a minor under the age of 14. my question is, is someone like this supposed to be working where there are so many kids? Also i noticed an employee had her kids at work with her. I called the local police station but they just had me leave a message for a detective.i also sent an email to the dept. of justice. I am uncomfortable with this situation. What else can i do?
im fairly sure that in order for someone affected by megans law to work anywhere the job needs to be approved by their parole officer and their local precinct needs to be notified of all their activity, so most likely they are already aware of the situation. i agree with jackie. he would not be would not be working there if they thought he would be a high risk. its impossible enough for any con who is trying to reform to find work as it is…

Relatives of ours live in a big old arts and crafts style house, with dark wood paneling, a large hall, a carved stairway balustrade and a big stone fireplace. It’s a bit dark inside for my taste, but when it is decorated up for Christmas each year it somehow becomes a magical place. They have a tall and heavily decorated Christmas tree in the hall, and lots of extra twinkling lights around the stairs and along the old-style picture rails and panels. With the fire going and the main lights dimmed, it is a scene right out of a one of those traditional Victorian Christmas cards.
Their home has become a focal point for Christmas celebrations for their family and close friends. Early on Christmas morning it has become a tradition that several families gather there and stack their Christmas gifts under the tree to make an impressive colorful pile. We all stay on for a Christmas morning brunch around the fire before thoughts turn to the preparations for Christmas dinner. The highlight of the morning, of course, is the opening of the presents.
A few years ago one of the granddads was persuaded to dress up as Santa in a Santa suit to hand out the Christmas presents from under the Christmas tree. He chose a traditional red velvet Santa outfit, with white trimmings, a large white beard, a broad black belt and black boots. It was bought ready made, and was excellent quality for a very affordable price. He has a little hand bell as well, to call everyone to attention. He kind of looked like a jovial Father Christmas even without a Santa costume, and carried the role off brilliantly to the great delight of all the kids. Having Santa Claus himself hand out the Christmas gifts added enormously to the pleasure to be seen on the faces of the children. A very realistic Father Christmas as the focus of attention made the Christmas morning gathering a very special annual event that everyone looked forward to for weeks ahead.
The Christmas costume idea was such a hit that everybody now at least wears a Christmas hat of some kind, mostly Santa hats in various styles, elf caps with big ears or reindeer antlers. There have been a few variations from these traditional themes, like the occasional Grinch from the Dr Seuss books and the movie, or Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie. Even the family pet has his Santa dog hat.
Last year, one of the younger mothers who helps Santa sort through the gifts arrived in a very fetching sexy Christmas costume in red and white. There has been much speculation among the menfolk as to whether this new fashion will inspire the other Moms to join her this year.
The granddad has so enjoyed being a Santa he has also worn his Santa costume to help out with a children’s hospital visit and has a couple of other community Christmas activities scheduled before Christmas as well.

Vampire Sacrifice Halloween Costume….?
For Halloween I want to be a vampire victim/sacrifice who is being to turn into a vampire herself.
I’m opting for a white dress all bloodstained with little fangs and bite marks but I don’t know what shoes I should wear. I have some Victorian looking boots but should I get white flats to still look like a sacrifice?
And what kind of accessories should I get? And what kind of makeup should I wear?
From Dracula and other vampire books, victims are usually dressed normally, they are just really pale, have the bite marks on their necks which they often try to cover with a scarf, and their teeth are starting to grow. If you want to go Victorian, keep the dress, shoes, and accessories all within the time period. Pale makeup with dark circles under the eyes and messed up hair should be good. Dracula is pretty short if you want to read it, it would give you some good ideas.
