My 11 year old daughter is now in adult sizes. She wears a B cup bra. We are looking for a Halloween costume appropriate for her age and sizes. Everything we find is fairly slutty even for an open minded person. I just want her to be able to have fun; these costumes can wait for high school at the earliest.

The history of the Christmas tree farming industry in the United States dates back to the year 1851, when an entrepreneurial farmer named Mark Carr hauled two sleds full of evergreen trees into New York City to sell them. As the story goes, he sold all the trees, and thus a new industry was born. In 1901, Christmas tree farming began on a larger scale when a farmer in New Jersey planted 25,000 Norway spruce trees. He harvested and sold them just 7 years later for $1.00 per tree.

The Christmas tree farming industry experienced slow growth during the first half of the 20th century. In 1940, it was estimated that some 90% of all Christmas trees were still coming from forests. It was a family tradition to select, cut, and drag the family tree home each year for decoration and display. Most families could not imagine the idea of someone else selecting their Christmas tree for them.

After World War II, Christmas tree farming came to be considered a supplemental part of agriculture. For example, if a farmer had some rough land that wasn’t good for growing any other crops, they might plant evergreen trees on it instead. Because the harvest occurs in winter, Christmas tree crops were a good way for a farmer to round out the year’s business and inject some additional cash into their finances at the end of the year.

During the 1960′s, the industry saw part-time Christmas tree farming decline, while more full-time farming operations sprang up. The primary regions where this business began to flourish were in the Pacific Northwest, North Carolina, and the upper Midwest, particularly Michigan.

The market for live Christmas trees continued to grow until the 1980′s, when an oversupply situation sent prices into a downward spiral. Trees that once sold for $18.00 to $30.00 each began selling for as little as $5.00 each in the early 1990′s. This drove many tree farmers out of the market.

Also during the 1990′s, the use of real trees saw a decline, as many families began to choose artificial trees over live trees. There were many reasons for this shift. For some, the idea of spending money on a tree only once was more appealing than a continued expenditure year after year. For others, convenience was a factor. Many families also chose artificial trees for safety reasons, because live trees burn more easily. There was also the thought that the cutting of Christmas trees is contributing to deforestation.

In the last decade, live tree purchases have been back on the increase. More people understand that live Christmas trees come from managed farms rather than forests. Also, we have better knowledge today that live trees are really only a fire hazard when they aren’t watered properly. With the advent of automated Christmas tree waterers, people don’t have to remember to water their trees on a daily basis anymore.

Christmas trees were added to the U.S. agricultural census in 1997. According to the 2002 census taken by the USDA, nearly 22,000 U.S. farms grow evergreen trees for the purpose of cutting for Christmas tree sales. In that census, the top three states for Christmas tree production were Oregon, North Carolina, and Michigan, respectively.

It is hard to determine where this market will go in the future. Today people are more knowledgeable that live Christmas trees do not result in ecological depletion because tree production is strictly a “farming business.” For the most part, the decision to purchase a live versus an artificial Christmas tree is a personal preference, usually handed down from generation to generation.

and then i bought a pair of ballet flats and a leotard from a local new york city dance store. then you can just pull your hair up and wear some tights.

Twilight Halloween Costume?

I really want to be a vampire this year, and I was thinking less of the ‘slutty-scary-gothic’ look and more into the ‘unhumanly beautiful twilight’ type look. Keep in mind, Im barely 5 feet tall at 16, so please dont make me look like a little kid :)

5. Christmas can be extremely expensive, and it can often take most of the year to save up and pay for it all. You might want to buy your children all the things they want but really can’t afford it.

6. As we all know, Christmas has lost it’s real meaning. The religious side of things hardly gets a mention, as all the shops and other people who are keen for your money are encouraging you to buy.

7. For some, the art of Christmas shopping has been lost. Fewer and fewer people are battling with the crowds and fighting for the last available wrapping paper and cards in the shops. More people are buying online, and shopping in comfort, knowing that if they order soon enough, they will receive their purchases in plenty of time. This is much better, but loses part of the fun of Christmas.

8. A lot of people think that Christmas is over rated, and that having to be civil to relatives you don’t like or see the rest of the year is a bit hypocritical. Still, at the very least, you will probably get a few days off work and lots of nice food.

9. The current recession means that people have to be much more careful with their money, and that cutbacks will have to be made in certain areas in order for the children to have a good Christmas. hey i wanna be a vampire for the halloween party im going to, i have a kind of red floaty dress i would wear and also i need to do my hair (which is black) what should i do to it,

The Joy Of Face Painting

Face painting is one of the cherished activities of festivals, carnivals, parades and events across the country. More and more holidays are beginning to use face painting as a great activity for kids. Schools can also incorporate it as a station on their annual field day. Halloween may boast the most face painting out of any holiday, but summer fairs and county festivals run close behind. The designs are too innumerable to count. A face can be transformed in its entirety, into an animal, character or monster. Face painters often use stencils, which are painted and then stamped onto the face, and can be popular, too. Whatever designs the children, or even adult asks the face painter for, there are a hundred ways to go about getting a great design.

Stencils and stamps are probably the easiest way for beginners to successfully do face painting. The stencils themselves can be cleaned with alcohol or wet wipes between paintings for sanitary reasons. A brush is then used to apply a new color or set of colors for the next child. Different colors can be used for separate parts of the stamp. For example, a butterfly can be outlined in blue and filled in with yellow. The stamp is then pressed against the person’s cheek. This is a good way to get the lines just right each time.

Many people who do face painting will do everything with a paint brush. Whiskers, dog eyes, hearts, rainbows and Spider Man are all popular. For the 4th of July, a face could be painted completely with red, white and blue stars. For Easter, decorative eggs, bunny rabbits, flowers and baskets can all easily be painted onto the face. Try hearts for Valentine’s Day, or a candy cane face with alternating red and white stripes for a wild, Christmas gathering. People will surprise face painters with creative requests, however. Be prepared to paint just about any character, emblem or color imaginable.

Halloween certainly boasts the biggest number of face painted ghouls, vampires, monsters and more. For the Hulk, one can simply paint their faces green. You can also use a simple Halloween theme, as well. Try bats, a spider web face, or an eerie yellowish tint for a witch’s face. Zombies and ghouls can cast sunken features under their eyes and paint blood around their mouths. Of course, the characters don’t have to be scary. It’s not hard to paint a clown face, with a little patience for painting a giant mouth, or using a solid color to enhance a costume, such as a giant raisin, bear or anything else one can build or find a costume for. Many Halloween costumes will provide directions for adding face painting. There are also plenty of kits in stores or on the web, which are geared for specific characters, or that come with all the colors for one’s own creativity to come out. In general, these paints are a little thicker and harder to remove than the typical face paint used for your everyday festival or event.

Ok, so I have a dwarf rabbit and he likes to go everywhere with me. School football games, on walks (he has a leash) fred meyer, walmart.. you get the point.
anyways… this halloween I wanted to buy/make a costume that includes Bungee (my bunny)
so my two ideas so far are…
be a rabbit (ears and such) and he could be my rabbit
or be a butterfly with wings that move, and he could be wrapped in a towel and it could be his “cucoon”
If i was to do the butterfly idea, how could i make sure people knew what my bunny was supposed to be?

Harry would be the first to admit that he’s not the ‘hearts and flowers’ type of bloke. To his mind, all that ‘Valentine’ stuff’s a bit sissy – okay for kids, but not for a man in his late fifties.

Gloria, on the other hand, is an incurable romantic. She’s been complaining lately that he never buys her flowers or takes her anywhere nice. He can’t understand a woman’s logic, sometimes. Didn’t he take her to that posh restaurant for their silver wedding anniversary in 1999? Cost him an arm and a leg, too. Flowers, well, they’re another thing – waste of time in Harry’s book – and (if his memory serves him correctly) they make him sneeze.

It seems, though, that Gloria’s not to be beaten on this occasion. Valentine’s Day’s on the horizon – she’s saying that she wants a romantic break and insists that a romantic break she will have, even if she has to drag him away, kicking and screaming.

Harry knows when he’s defeated. He settles down to watch the football, while an excited Gloria checks out the Internet for a suitable venue. Very soon, she’s found it – a beautifully quaint, converted 16th century inn situated in the very heart of historic Stratford-upon-Avon, the city famous for Shakespeare and his plays and romantic sonnets. Booking couldn’t be easier and now all she needs to do is to convince Harry that he will have a great time.

As they head towards Warwickshire, Harry’s still unenthused. He’s not into all that soppy poetry stuff, and besides, there’s the Six Nations match on Saturday. He’d had his heart set on relaxing in his armchair, with his slippers on and a few cans by his side. Typical.

On arrival at the inn, Harry and Gloria are shown to their room which is in the original, 16th century part of the hotel. Even Harry can’t fail to be impressed by the olde-worlde charm and elegant furnishings. The room has a huge, soft bed with crisp, white linen, its own ensuite bathroom, direct dial telephone, colour TV (a bit of a small screen, maybe, thinks Harry, but never mind), along with a host of other amenities and 24 hour room service.

To set the mood, Gloria has arranged for them to be greeted with a bottle of champagne and chocolates – very welcome after a long drive. Things are starting to look better, much better.

Better still for Harry when he discovers that the hotel has been an Ale House since 1640 and has two bars serving a fine, extensive range of beers with original ales on hand pumps. He can hardly believe his luck when he learns that one of the bars boasts a large screen TV especially for screening sporting events – and it’s open all day! Hallelujah!

As they enjoy a refreshing beer in the atmospheric bar, Harry’s eyes are drawn as if by hypnosis towards the TV and Gloria suggests that a little compromise is called for. She will endure the rugby with him, if he’ll agree to share a cosy, romantic meal in the restaurant afterwards. Harry agrees.

Several beers later, now on first name terms with several other guests and very happy with the result of the Six Nations match, Harry escorts Gloria contentedly to the warm, wood-panelled restaurant. Together they enjoy a first class meal and as they sip their coffee, Gloria thinks she must be imagining things, as Harry seems to be a little misty-eyed. Suddenly, he leaves the table, disappears for a couple of minutes, then returns with his hands behind his back. As he sits back down, stifling a sneeze, he presents Gloria with a perfect, single red rose, leans over the table and plants a kiss on her cheek.

As they snuggle up later, Gloria smiles as she realises that, yes, her Harry can be romantic, after all. Meanwhile, Harry drifts off into a deep slumber, dreaming of that winning drop goal by Jonny Wilkinson. What an emotional moment that was… really brought a tear to his eye.

What About a Grease Costume for Halloween?

USA, the fifties. Danny and Sandy met at Rydell High School. They were in love last summer but Danny does not admit it to anyone. Danny treats Sandy as an unknown person. Sandy will be looking to win back the love of Danny and will spectacularly the day of the Rydell High School Fancy Fair.

In the year 1978, one of the most famous movie musicals in the USA is brought to the screen.

Grease is one of the events, the most significant film of the late seventies and will affect a worldwide generation of teenagers. We loved Grease; we wanted to look like Sandy, Rizzo, Marty, Danny, Keneckie or Fonzy. If you were a teenager thirty years ago, you surely sang “You’re The One That I Want” and “Summer Nights”.

Halloween is the opportunity to realize our dreams. I dreamed to look like Rizzo. If I choose not to dress a witch costume for this Halloween, I probably will choose Rizzo’s costume.

Grease is full of characters and then of different costumes based on the fifties teenagers clothing:

Sandy is blonde, naive and she fell in love with Danny.

Rizzo, leader of the Pink Ladies, is a teenager who lives free according to her own laws. She broke with Danny and is Keneckie’s girlfriend.

The Pink Ladies: Frenchie, Marty, Jane are the Pink Ladies. They are generally frivolous, only interested by themselves and want to please the T-Birds.

Danny is the hero of the movie. He is the leader of the T-Birds, rebels of Rydell High School. He is in love with Sandy, but refuses to admit it.

Keneckie is Danny’s best friend; he is also the second T-Birds leader. He lives a passionate love story with Rizzo.

The T-Birds: Sonny, Doody and Fonzy.

If you want to dress like a Grease character for Halloween 2007, you can either buy costumes or make them yourself.

Any tips for my Halloween costume?

I’m wearing teeny tiny cut-off jean shorts, that ride very low, not quite showing my crack.

A tight white tank with grease stains.

Construction boots, and my boyfriends work belt.

Any suggestions to make it better-specifically to make it obvious I’m a plumber not a construction worker. I suppose I could carry a plunger…

you should fold the shorts down smaller, or cut off part of the top band to make your crack obvious ;) haha.and if you have a printer at home, make a lil plummer logo,with your “name tag” and get some iron-on transfers for t-shirts and that way its very obvious. like “T&A Plumming co” get it? t and a? haha

What Are Some Good Halloween Costumes For Me??
No witches, ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins or anything common. No Princess costumes or animals (like a cute cat, but no). Nothing like a character from Hairpray, harry Potter, or High School Musical/Camp Rock. Nothing horror or adult-ish. No fairies. Something unusual and unique. I am 12.
Once I was a pumpkin, it was cute! And a candy corn!
Those are cool, and un-common.
This costume should be unusual but on a website or in a catalog.

Does anyone know how to recreate the costumes of the Trannies from the Rocky Horror Picture Show?
